Why You Will Love This Recipe
Like smoothie bowls, yogurt bowls are an easy and nutritious breakfast and hardly take any time to make. They are perfect for busy mornings and fill you up with fresh fruits and creamy Greek yogurt.
Ingredients
This is a simple recipe to start your mornings off with a nutritious breakfast that only takes five minutes! The best part is it can an be modified to your liking or dietary needs and is a great alternative to cereal. Here are my notes on the ingredients I have had the best experience with.
Greek Yogurt – I like to use Greek yogurt because it is a good source of protein and a good source of calcium. My favorite flavor of Greek yogurt to use is vanilla because it has a little more sweetness and is less bitter than plain yogurt. But you can use different flavors or even regular yogurt if you want.
Fresh Berries – I recommend using fresh fruit over frozen fruit since frozen tends to be very mushy and runny. To pack it full of antioxidants and give it a jam like flavor, I fill my Greek yogurt bowl with mixed berries. Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries are my favorite.
Banana – To add a bit of potassium and another creamy element I slice up half of a banana too.
Granola or Nuts – I like a little crunch on top of my yogurt bowls. You can achieve this with your favorite granola or a scoop of chopped nuts.
Honey – This one is definitely optional. When I make these with plain Greek yogurt that doesn’t have any added sugars I think it needs a little extra sweetness and I add in a bit of honey.
Additional Ingredients – Feel free to mix in your favorite toppings like chia seeds, hemp seeds, coconut flakes, quinoa, or even a scoop pf peanut butter for extra protein.
