What is Cranberry Jalapeno Dip?
This is a new viral dip from TikTok – make which came about as a copycat to Costco’s cranberry jalapeño dip. While there are many versions out there, the Costco dip is a blended dip unlike some versions that are roughly chopped. Either way this delicious dip combines tart cranberries, jalapeno peppers, and softened cream cheese to create a creamy dip that is hard to resist! Serve with your favorite crackers, as a spread on a sandwich, or with tortilla chips.
Ingredients
This easy dip recipe uses simple ingredients and is a great addition to your next holiday party. I will break down what I used and why and what ingredients will give you the best results.
Cranberry Sauce – To make this a simple recipe I used canned whole cranberry sauce not to be confused with jellied cranberry sauce. You can definitely use fresh cranberries or homemade cranberry jalapeno relish if you have it on hand. Just note that the canned version is sweetened cranberries so you will need to add sugar if you use fresh.
Cream Cheese – The base in this dip is cream cheese. I used a block of reduced fat cream cheese but you can use whatever version you like. You can also use whipped cream cheese. Just make sure it is softened so it blends easier.
Jalapeño Peppers – You can use a jalapeno with or without the seeds. Depending on the spiciness of the jalapeños sometimes I remove the seeds and sometimes I keep them in. But that really depends on how much spice you prefer. Without the seeds this is not a very spicy dip.
Lime Juice – To balance out the dip and add some acidity to the cranberry mixture I added a little fresh lime juice. This is a great way to cut some of the fat in the cheese and add an element of freshness.
Green Onions – Green onions add a ton of flavor to dips and they go really well with cranberries.
Salt & Black Pepper – For a little bit of extra seasoning.
Dippers – I used wheat thins but any crackers will work here. You can also use sea salt pita crackers, crostini toasts, tortilla chips, or whatever you have on hand.
Mixing the Dip
The best way to make this is to mix it with an electric hand mixer to fully blend the cream cheese with the cranberries. While you can use a food processor the dip may become too thin and it will also blend the jalapenos and green onions which may create a green or muddy color.
