What are Rolo Pretzel Treats?

Rolo pretzel treats are an easy holiday dessert made with Rolo candies, square pretzels, and decorative candies. Rolos are a chocolate candy with a caramel center and make the perfect salty-sweet combo when paired with salty pretzels.

Ingredient List

This Rolo pretzel recipe is a fun treat and easy dessert for Halloween that requires minimal effort and is a great activity for the kids to participate in. Here are my notes for you on ingredients 😉

A marble surface holds three snack packages: Snyder's of Hanover family size pretzel snaps, Rolo dark salted caramel chocolates, and Brach's mini pumpkins candy. A striped cloth is partially visible beneath the items.

Rolo Candies – I used dark chocolate salted caramel candies because our taste buds prefer dark chocolate, but you can use milk chocolate as well. You can find these chocolate candies in the candy aisle at your local grocery store. Mine also sold the unwrapped Rolo in the milk chocolate version which would have been a time saver, but I really wanted the dark chocolate Rolos 🙂

Pretzels – For this recipe I used pretzel squares which are also sometimes referred to as waffle pretzels, pretzel snaps, or lattice pretzels. Since these pretzels have a more consistent base with smaller holes, I think they are the best choice to keep the chocolate from oozing out the bottom.

Holiday Candies – To create festive treats and keep decorating really simple, I used pumpkin candies on the top of each Rolo. You can also use candy corn, candy eyes, a colorful M&M, or any little candies you like. You can also modify the candy topper to accommodate Christmas time or treats for Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, or even 4th of July. You can even swap out the candy topper for pecan halves and make Rolo pretzel turtles!

How to Make

The best part of these delicious Rolo pretzels is how easy they are to make! All you need is a sheet pan and a few minutes in the oven and you have the perfect combination of a salty sweet treat.

Place pretzels on a lined baking sheet spacing them out so they are not touching. You can use a baking mat, parchment paper, or aluminum foil. Then comes the hardest part of the whole process, unwrapping the Rolo candies, haha! Once they are unwrapped, place a Rolo in the center of each pretzel.

Four images show a step-by-step recipe: 1) pretzels on a baking sheet, 2) chocolate pieces added to the top of the pretzels, 3) melted chocolates with candy pumpkins added, 4) finished pumpkin pretzel treats in a bowl.

Bake in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes until the Rolos are soft in the middle. While the chocolate is still hot, place a candy pumpkin into the center of the softened Rolo and gently press it down.

Once each pretzel Rolo treat has a candy on top, place the baking tray in the fridge for 20 minutes to set the chocolate.
