Description

This easy cookie recipe combines two American classics, Oreos and chocolate! These 4th of July chocolate covered Oreos are an easy treat and so much fun to make. Take your 4th of July celebration to the next level with these red, white, and blue cookies. Full of chocolaty goodness and festive flare, these simple 4th of July cookies use only three ingredients and the kids can help! Perfect for all the summer holidays and backyard BBQs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Melting Chocolate (White, Milk, or Dark Chocolate)
  • 1 pkg Oreo Cookies
  • Patriotic Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt the melting chocolate in the microwave on 50% power in 30 second intervals. After about 90 seconds the chocolate should start to get melty. Once it starts to melt, microwave on 50% power in 15 second intervals stirring in between until the chocolate is smooth.
  2. Once the chocolate is melted, dip the cookies or fully immerse the cookies in the chocolate for a covered cookie.
  3. After coating the Oreos, lay them out to set up on a cookie sheet or wire rack lined with wax paper or parchment paper. For my half dipped cookies I found that I could stand them up on end in my mini muffin tin so I could decorate both sides.
  4. While the chocolate is still wet, use your hand to drizzle the sprinkles over each cookie.
  5. Once all the cookies are dipped or covered and decorated, place the baking sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes to set the chocolate.
  6. Serve with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

Notes

I made 40 chocolate covered cookies, 24 dipped halfway and 16 covered and still had chocolate left over. How many cookies you can make will depend on how many you dip vs how many you cover.
